Celebrations as Hoops U16NL notch up first win, as do Eagles men

With our celebration of women's basketball last week, we have 2 weeks of scores to catch up on. Let's begin.

A big well done to Oxford Hoops U16 National League team who notched up their first win in the League beating Reading Rockets 80-58 a week last Saturday. Unfortunately, in a close game they were defeated the following week away to Farnborough Phantoms 60-53. This week the boys play at home with a game against the Woking Blackhawks - Good Luck!

The Hoops' U14NL are faring better in the Midlands West League. An easy win on November 10th, beating Northamptonshire Titans Purple 77-36. They had a free weekend but are away to Milton Keynes Trojans this Saturday. This looks like it will be a close game, with only one point separating the 2 teams in the league with Trojans in 2nd place and Hoops in 3rd.

With a postponed game last weekend, Hoops' U18 lost narrowly away to Thames Valley Cavaliers 61-56. This weekend they are also away to the Trojans.

Over at the Abingdon Eagles, their U16s sit at the top of the South I league with 3 wins out of 3 over the past 2 weekends, beating Luton II, Farnborough Phantoms and Reading Rockets. They take on Farnborough Phantoms II this weekend in Aldershot. The U14s have won one, lost one over the past couple of weekends. They were beaten by top of the league Bracknell Cobras but came back strongly last weekend beating Surrey Rams II 93-52.

So over to our Oxfordshire Seniors. Wednesday saw the first victory for the new Abingdon Eagles men's team who beat Witney Wolves 59-57! Well done.

Just one game to report for Oxford Brookes men who lost to Essex Blades in the National Shield 87-72.

And we'd all like to say a big thank you to all our referees and table officials who turn up week in, week out to support our teams.

Refs Aggie and Tony officiate at the Abingdon Eagles!
